Mandeep Badyal - Lawyer
Mandeep has extensive experience representing clients in alternate dispute resolution and litigation matters including disputes in contracts, business, construction (arbitration, builder's liens), shareholder & partnerships, loan enforcement, foreclosure, property, negligence, misrepresentation & fraud, estate litigation, franchises, and commercial leases.
Mandeep also engages with his clients as a partner, protecting their interests in real estate law—both residential and commercial—and handling legal matters for small and mid-sized businesses. He specializes in setting up corporations for professionals, such as orthodontists, dentists, and doctors.
Community is important to Mandeep. He has volunteered with the Calgary Women’s Emergency Shelter, Sikh Youth Calgary, and the Victoria Parole Board, and co-founded the South Asian Law Students Association (Victoria). Mandeep is passionate about literacy and education for childern and is currently serving as a Board Member for Calgary Reads.
Harman Toor - Lawyer
Harman is a skilled litigator who achieves results. Harman’s area of expertise covers a variety of areas including personal injury/motor vehicle accidents, contract disputes, shareholder & partnership disputes, commercial leases, construction litigation and builders’ liens, loan recovery, real estate litigation, business law litigation, estate litigation, employment disputes, franchises, intellectual property disputes and insurance coverage claims.
Harman has appeared before all levels of court in Alberta and represented clients appearing before various administrative boards and tribunals, including the Trademarks Opposition Board, Alberta Environmental Appeals Board, Calgary Real Estate Board, and Complaints Inquiry Committee of the Certified Management Accountants of Alberta.
Harman is active in the community, volunteering his time to organizations such as Immigrant Services Calgary, Pro Bono Law Alberta, and Student Legal Services at the University of Calgary. He is also a past Board Member of the Calgary Youth Justice Society and the Alberta Motor Vehicle Industry Council.
Atif Hasan - Lawyer
Atif Hasan is an associate whose practice encompasses Civil Litigation, Personal Injury and Criminal Defence.
In Litigation, he has represented clients in matters dealing with debt recovery, business, builders liens, condominium disputes, employment and insurance related claims. In Personal Injury, he has successfully obtained settlements in cases relating to motor vehicle accidents and slip and falls. Atif is also well-versed in Criminal Law, handling offences such as DUI's, assault, domestic violence, break and enter, fraud and other criminal offences. He has negotiated numerous early withdrawals of charges, saving clients the expense and emotional toll of a trial.
He has represented clients at all levels of court including The Provincial Court of Alberta and The Court of Queen's Bench of Alberta. Atif has represented clients in trials, applications, pre-trial conferences, mediations, settlement conferences and case management meetings.
Atif is passionate about working with people to protect their rights and fight for the best possible outcome.
Deep Brar - Lawyer
Deep is a dedicated and detail-oriented lawyer who specializes in Estate Planning and Estate Litigation, including wills, enduring power of attorneys, personal directives, grants of probate, and grants of administration. Deep has experience advocating for clients in court and has assisted clients with a wide variety of litigation matters.
Graduating with a Juris Doctor of Law from the University of Saskatchewan, Deep has begun her professional career in Calgary becoming a Member of the Law Society of Alberta in 2016.
As a Calgary native Deep is proud of her community and excited to be able to give back. She has volunteered with Legal Aid Alberta, as well as other organizations in her community.
Mavdeep Mangat - Student-at-law
Mavy is currently completing his articles at Badyal Toor and is articling under Mandeep Badyal.
After obtaining his B.A. (with distinction) from the University of Calgary, Mavy traveled to the United States to pursue his legal education. He earned his Juris Doctor from Michigan State University (Go Green!), where he was a member of the Canadian Law Students Association. While in law school, Mavy earned dean’s list honors from 2015-2017 and was also the recipient of the Jurisprudence Achievement Award 2016 for academic excellence.
Giving back to the community is of high value to Mavy. He has volunteered at the Genesis Centre YMCA, where he instructed and led pre-school classes, and also maintained the indoor gym equipment and locker-rooms. He has also volunteered with the Cerebral Palsy Association in Alberta as a planning manager for donations made to victims of the disability. Presently, he is a volunteer with Calgary Reads.
Outside of the legal world, Mavy enjoys keeping active by playing basketball and exercising regularly. Since he cannot get enough of reading at the office, you can find Mavy over-indulging on history books in his spare time. Yes, he’s a history buff!
Adrika Gupta - Real Estate Assistant
Adrika is a dedicated and hard-working Real Estate Assistant who joined Badyal Toor in 2014.
Adrika helps to guide our real estate clients through all their commercial and residential real estate needs, helping to make transactions run effortlessly and efficiently. She also provides her knowledge and expertise in helping business incorporations. With a Master of Business Administration from the University of West Bengal, Adrika supports our firm to be on top for all real estate related transactions.
Vicki Saunders - Legal Assistant
Victoria pursued her education at Bow Valley College and joined Badyal Toor in October of 2018. She specializes in the area of Personal Injury. She brings along with her, six years of personal injury experience to Badyal Toor and is an invaluable asset to the team.
Victoria assists in all aspects of file management, including drafting pleadings, gathering and analyzing documents, and most importantly, communicating with clients on a first-point contact basis.
In her spare time she loves going travelling, camping, and exploring the outdoors. She has a zest for adventure and living life to its fullest. Victoria stays active by taking part in spin class, yoga, and running. She also loves spending time with her family and friends.
